Mckinney Christian Academy has made an effort to give back to the community due to the coronavirus pandemic and it has participated in organizing a seasonal sports food drive, in which athletes from different sports were able to donate dry foods and canned goods. Fall sports athletes were to donate food from April 13th till April 17th, winter sports athletes were to donate food from April 20th till April 24th, and lastly, the spring sports athletes were to donate food from April 27th till May 1st. Athletes were able to sign up for a time slot in which their sports coach would drive by their house and pick it up while maintaining social distance. Freshman Camden Paschall stated, “I loved doing the food drive because it was fun preparing all the food and it was an extra bonus to be able to see Coach Ackmann.” Once the coaches picked up the food, they delivered it to the Salvation Army in McKinney. When asked about how she felt about the food drive Junior Trinity Souther said, “ I was glad to have the opportunity to give back in this time where serving others has been difficult.” Over 70 families signed up to donate food. McKinney Christain Academy came together as one to serve others throughout this difficult time.
