On Sunday, September 10, Senior Nick Catullo ran in the Ironman World Championship in Nice, France. Catullo is a senior at McKinney Christian Academy and a Cross Country runner. He has ran a previous Iron Man in Lake Placid, New York which qualified him for the World Championship. The Iron man race consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 run. Catullo is the youngest ever to compete in the World Championship at the young age of 18. Catullo expressed his dream to be in the world championship with his father saying, “Ironman has always been the dream. It’s always been my goal since I saw my dad do it in 2011. I never thought I’d do it this early.” Catullo finished the race with a time of 14:46:33. He placed 1,777th out of 1,998 contestants. His father finished with a time of 15:44:55. Catullo hopes to qualify again next year for the world championship.
