The captains of each football team meet for the coin toss.
On Friday, September 27, the McKinney Christian Mustangs’ football team faced off against the homeschool HSAA Angels. Although it was a hard-fought game, the Angels pulled away after the score at halftime was 13-0. This was an exciting matchup, given that the HSAA Angels have a pass-heavy offense similar to the Mustangs. Although the Mustangs could stop most of HSAA’s pass efforts, they tried their best, with sophomore Lincoln Pogue getting an interception in the game’s first drive. The Mustangs did not have an answer for the HSAA run game. Junior quarterback Cody Dow was 21/31 on pass attempts, with 159 passing yards on the night. The top receivers were sophomores Harry Thompson and Lincoln Pogue, who had 12 receptions and 104 yards receiving. The top three defensive leaders were sophomores Luke Dreffs, Thompson, and Pogue, who had combined 10 tackles and nine assists.
