On August 14-15, the McKinney Christian Academy JV volleyball team competed in the Lakehill Preparatory tournament. On Friday, the Lady Mustangs defeated Dallas Lutheran and Coram Deo Academy Dallas in two sets each. MCA finished the night by splitting two sets with Lakehill Preparatory School. The Lady Mustangs won the first set 25-4 before falling 25-15 in the second set. Their strong performance throughout the day earned them first place in their pool. “We played really hard and came out strong,” sophomore Mercer Fletcher said. The Lady Mustangs returned Saturday with high energy and determination as they looked to take first place in the tournament. The team battled Shelton in the semifinal match but fell in three sets. Despite the loss, the Lady Mustangs held their heads high and prepared for their final match against Coram Deo Academy Dallas. MCA responded to the semifinal loss with a strong performance, defeating Coram Deo to secure third place in its first tournament of the season. “I’m so proud of us for finishing strong and taking third place, especially since it was our first tournament as a team,” freshman Presley Judah said. The third-place finish concluded a successful first tournament for the JV Lady Mustangs, who earned multiple victories throughout the two-day competition.
