Community Events in McKinney

MCKINNEY – The city of McKinney is offering several fun events in the month of January that students at MCA will want to take advantage of. The city has done a good job of offering something for all different age groups. Your younger siblings will enjoy the Dinosaur Live exhibit at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s nature trails, including a Design-a-Dino coloring contest. (Open Tues – Sat 9am – 5 pm, Sun 1pm – 5 pm). For those interested in tempting your taste buds, Cadillac Pizza Pub at 112 S. Kentucky Street is celebrating their 5 year anniversary on Wednesday, January 11th, with an all-day pizza party. As a way to say “Thank You” to the community, pizzas are only $5.00. If cooking is your passion, head downtown to Kitchenwares on the Square on Thursday, January 12th, for a hands on Cajun inspired cooking class. The cost is $49.00, class size is limited and pre-registration is required so if you’re interested in this one, get signed up before it’s too late. For those of you looking for a late Christmas present under $25.00 for your 70’s music loving parents, on the evening of Tuesday, January 31st, the McKinney Performing Arts is offering a Carpenter’s Once More concert featuring vocalist Diana Lynn. This show celebrates the unforgettable voice of the late Karen Carpenter. Google “The Carpenters” for a quick rendition of “Close to You” to understand the excitement in your Mom’s eyes when she sees these tickets! January has a lot of great events in the city of McKinney for families so don’t let these opportunities pass you by.
