“Our team all depends on our captains to lead us through thick and thin. The leaders on our team are always encouraging our new teammates and helping them learn to become better players so that they will carry on our legacy in the years to come.”
The Middle School boys soccer team have had a great season so far, with a record of 5-1-2 in district. The boys had some tough competition against Grapevine Faith on January 30th, and another game later in the week against Parish on February 2nd, both ending with wins for the Mustangs. The boys played hard and have definitely benefited by the outstanding leadership from this years captains and from the encouraging players on and off of the field. Eighth grader Nate Gwynn said, “Our team all depends on our captains to lead us through thick and thin. The leaders on our team are always encouraging our new teammates and helping them learn to become better players so that they will carry on our legacy in the years to come.” The eighth graders on the team have set a great example to the seventh and new sixth graders on the team, which will influence the Middle School teams in the future. With Head Coach Jason Duke, the boys have a great Christ-like leader to help them grow spiritually, and as a team. The eighth graders lead the team in drills and daily warm-ups that are more enjoyable since the team is so energetic. They have been doing fun drills daily and building muscle memory with ball handling routines to make passing in games much easier. The boys are in the playoffs, finishing second in league play. They will host Grapevine Faith on Feb. 9 for the semi-final playoff game.
