What I’ve Learned: Chapter 1

God is Greater

Isabella Brock, Staff Writer

God has wrecked my life in one of the most beautiful ways during my time in Guatemala. My knowledge of Christ has grown beyond anything I would have ever imagined. I’ve learned how much greater God is. Now, I know this sounds so typical of a basic Sunday school class, but for some reason, the velocity of God’s majesty and power really hit me during my time out of the country.

God does a lot of great things, and I watch the way He has beautifully woven the painful and difficult moments of my past to create a future that is brighter than I could have ever imagined. I’m constantly in awe of the opportunity God puts in my life and the way He connects my story to the stories of others. However, what really stumped me this time, is how invested God is in each of our lives. I guess I never really understood that God is equally invested in my life, as He is every other life He created. When I think of what God has done for me, the list is extensive, and each of us have a list that is just as long as the next person’s. He is the ultimate multitasker.

I’m having a hard time finding the word to even describe it, but just the fact that God can be so involved in my life and be listening to my prayers and answering my questions and loving for me, despite that fact that I constantly let him down, is enough to prove his majesty. However, the fact that He is capable of doing that for the seven billion other people on this earth, many of whom discredit him, is one of the most powerful things I’ve come to realize.

To Him who alone does great wonders, For His loving kindness is everlasting
