On Thursday, March 30th, the two fifth grade classes took a field trip to the Holocaust Museum and the Sixth Floor Museum. The Holocaust Museum teaches the history of the Holocaust and the Sixth Floor Museum teaches about John F. Kennedy and his assassination. The reason behind the fifth grade classes visiting these museums is the students had been learning about World War II and the Holocaust as a part of the fifth grade curriculum. The classes also study the events that follow WWII. Fifth grade teacher, Karen Krusing, said, “It was a somber trip. Yet, our students left feeling empowered to be upstanders and promoters of tolerance.”   Following the museums, the students ate at West End Spaghetti Warehouse. The students were able to become aware of the past through their field trip to the Holocaust Museum and the Sixth Floor Museum.
