Middle and Upper School Band Competition

MCA+Band

Juliana Roller, staff writer

On April 4, the MCA Concert Band competed in the Concert & Sight-Reading contest at Bishop Lynch High School and received a Superior rating for the concert portion of the competition.  The band prepared three musical works and were judged on musicality by three judges.  After the concert portion, the band performed a piece of music that they had never seen before.  Mr. Snow had 10 minutes to explain the piece from beginning to end before performing it.  The band received a 1, 2, 2, from the judges in Sight-Reading on a scale of one to three, one being the best.  They brought home a concert trophy for their Superior performance.  This year was unusual in that it was the first time both Middle School and Upper School band had been combined for this contest.  Congratulations to Mr. Snow and the MCA Band.
