NHS Induction Ceremony
MCA’s Largest NHS Induction
May 1, 2017
National Honor Society is a group of students that excel in academics, servitude, and leadership. NHS sends invitations out once a year in the spring, where the nominees are asked to write an essay, list their community service hours, and have five recommendation letters from their teachers to be inducted. This past Wednesday, April 26th, the induction ceremony for the new NHS inductees was held. Parents, friends, faculty, and fellow peers watched during the special chapel as the inductees went up one by one to sign the NHS book, officially inducting them, then receiving their certificates from Upper School principal Laura Smith. This year’s speaker, current NHS President, Christopher Thomas, gave a quick speech about service as the overall essence of National Honor Society is to be servitude leaders. This year’s induction was the largest in McKinney Christian Academy’s history, with 41 new inductees. The induction was followed by the seniors being recognized and receiving their stoles that they will wear at graduation. The ceremony is now helping spark the next generation of leaders who understand the ideology of being a servant to those who they lead.
