A slight breeze filled the air, ruffling the hair of spectators crowding the sides of the street. It was a pleasant day in Dallas. It had rained earlier in the morning, but the skies had cleared since then. It was about sixty-seven degrees outside. A roar of approval rolled like a wave through the city, channeled between the brick buildings by the wind. The roar grew progressively louder until he appeared.

The President smiled and waved from the back right seat of the open-top ’61 Lincoln Continental limousine. His wife sat beside him, and the Texas Governor and his wife sat in front. John Kennedy had arrived at Love Field airport, and immediately begun the motorcade through Dallas from there. As the car inched past the Texas School Book Depository, a shot was fired. It was ignored. Another shot was fired. It found its mark in Kennedy’s back. Panic ensued. The crowd was terrified and confused. A final shot hit the President in the head as the car sped away.

November 22, 1963 was the last day of John Kennedy’s life.

We have an official report of the events of that day called the Warren Commission outlines the specifics. The final, official word was that ex-Marine Lee Harvey Oswald shot John F. Kennedy from the sixth floor window of the Texas School Book Depository with a Carcano rifle. He acted alone.

This report has been challenged and disputed, and various conspiracy theories have arisen regarding the world-changing event. Did the Russians do it? The CIA? Cuban Communists? Did Oswald act alone? Was it Oswald? Theories range from totally plausible to insane. Just look up the youtube videos. The real reason these theories are so widely formulated is that Oswald was killed soon after by Jack Ruby. He never went to court, therefore never gave his side of the story.

These theories are about to be settled. President Donald Trump has authorized the release of the files related to the Assassination. Files were released to the public on October 26, 2017. People can read files via internet PDF.

I don’t believe that the new documents will contradict the Warren Commission. If they were to contradict it, speculation would rise all the more. People would realize that the “truth” they were told for years was a lie, and that their government is not as trustworthy as they thought. If the previous story was a cover-up, how would this be any different? The government has not released all of the information regarding 11/22/63 and the following investigations. There could be as many as 300 unreleased files. We can only wonder what those contain. The still-restricted files are obviously restricted for a reason. They are probably more controversial or important than the others. We would learn more substantial information from those 300 than all the rest. So what do they say? What do we not know?

Probably something we don’t need to know. It’s still frustrating to know that the substantial information is still being withheld from the public. Be that as it may, we still have more details than before on the Kennedy Assassination. We know more about the events following and some investigations. It’s an interesting thing to see something the public has never before seen, and find new information on an event that shaped America and the world.
