Rainbow Kitten Surprise, or RKS for short, is a band out of Boone North Carolina. RKS offers harmonic folk-rock/indie pop sound.  The band recently released their new album “How to: Friend, Love, Freefall” on April 6, 2018. A new LP has been long awaited since their last album was released three years ago. The new album features unique vocals from lead member Sam Melo with background vocals performed by other band members in each song creating a layered sound to each song. Folk influences are predominantly heard in songs like “Pacific Love,” and “Painkillers.” Other influences such as alt-rock and even gospel can found scattered through the track listing. Songs such as “Possum Queen” “Recktify” and “Holy War” really demonstrate how RKS’ vocals set them apart from other bands and offer a unique and interesting sound. RKS has come a long way since their inception in 2013 and creative albums like “How To: Friend, Love, Freefall” are what they need to make their sound heard.
