Each year the McKinney Christian Academy senior class raises money to donate a gift to the school. The senior classes of 2010-2012 and 2014-2018 and donors at the 25th Anniversary Gala worked hard to raise money for a thirty foot concrete cross. Having a cross in the center of the school has been an idea for a few years, and now it is finally here. It is located at the center of the campus as a reminder to have God in the center of our lives. The cross can be seen from most places around the MCA campus. The cross was dedicated to the school on August 9, 2018. This was a night to dedicate the cross as students, parents, and teachers attended Meet the Teacher. This was a special ceremony where the administration and faculty prayed over the school to keep Christ at the center of the students and teachers lives.

Headmaster, Bob Lovelady remarking on the size of the cross said, “You can’t miss the cross.” He thinks it is a great symbol to remind people to take up their cross daily. Upper School teacher Dr. McGinn said, “The cross is a great focal point for everything we do. It should be in the center of our academics, sports, businesses, social life, and family.”

The theme MCA will be focusing on this year is based in Luke 9:23. It says, ‘Then He said to them all: “whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” This verse means to follow Jesus you must allow Him to be at the center of your life, and focus on Him daily.
