The first All-School pep-rally for the 2019-2020 school year was held in the SLC last Friday. The first pep rally is a way to introduce the fall sports lineup and to encourage school spirit amongst the students. To kick off the pep rally, the MCA band, Middle School and Upper School cheer teams performed. Senior, Seth Pugh, emceed the rally and introduced a new edition to MCA pep rallies, the spirit stick. The Lower, Middle, and Upper School students will compete for the spirit stick and candy, based on who has the most spirit at each pep rally. The Varsity Cheer Squad then performed a dance, cheer, and stunt routine. Then, each Fall sports team was introduced. The cross country, volleyball, and football teams all got a chance to share about their team and inform everyone of their next event. After that, two students from each grade and a few teachers then participated in a hula hoop contest. The final winner was Middle School Science Teacher, Sharon Boese. After the competition, Coach Gray announced the winner of the spirit stick. The Lower School Students were the first recipients of the spirit stick. Lastly, MCA students, faculty, and guests closed off the first pep rally of the year by singing the MCA Fight Song together.
