Varsity Volleyball Kicks Off District Play

The varsity volleyball team played their district opener against Bishop Dunne.

On September 17 the Lady Mustangs opened up district play against Bishop Dunne on their home court. The game lasted three sets and ended in a win for the Lady Mustangs. In the first set, the Mustangs won 25-11 with senior Ava Grace Haggard leading the team with five kills. The Mustangs also won the second set 25-11 with freshman Kaylin Starling leading the team with four kills. Ending the game the Mustangs won the third set 25-13. Throughout the game senior libero Micah McDowell led the team in digs with eight and in aces with six. Due to protocols the Mustangs still were able to bring out a fan section that reached full capacity. Sophomore Georgia Haggard commented on how this game prepared them for the upcoming season saying, “This game was a great start to a hopeful season. We all worked well together and it gives me hope for a prosperous season.” The Lady Mustangs next game is September 22 away against Brookhill.
