Cross Country Dominates at the TAPPS 5A District Meet

The MCA cross country teams competed in the TAPPS 5A District Meet.

On Thursday, October 22, the McKinney Christian cross country teams competed in the TAPPS 5A District Meet hosted by Ursuline Academy at Warren Park in Frisco, Texas. Distances for the district meet included a 3k (2 miles) for the girls and a 5k (3 miles) for the boys. The varsity girls started their run at 11:30 a.m. with varsity boys following soon after at noon. The girls varsity team consisted of freshman Reagan Pogue, sophomores Leigh Evan Kitzmiller and Josie Allen and seniors Alessia Catullo and Ruth Perry. Pogue finished in seventh with a time of 14:34. Running for the boys varsity team was seniors Peter Michael Clark, Korey Vita, Ryan Radtke, Jonathan Roller, junior Daniel Kanz, freshmen Nick Catullo and David Roller. Clark came in second, David Roller in third, Kanz in fourth, Catullo in eighth and Jonathan Roller in ninth scoring the team a total of 26 points. The varsity boys took home the title of TAPPS 5A 2020 District Champions. 

Shortly after at 12:30 p.m. the junior varsity teams took on the same course. Sophomore Alexis Pogue came in first overall with a time of 15:56 and senior McKeni Adkins came in third with a time of 16:33. The junior varsity girls took home the title of TAPPS 5A 2020 Junior Varsity Girls District Champions. The junior varsity boys competed in 3 miles. The boys also took home district champions after junior Tyler Carpenter, senior Aidan McKeller, freshmen Griffin Post and JC Harrison placed in the top 5.

On November 2, the varsity boys and girls team will travel to Waco, Texas for the 2020 State Championship Meet.
