On Tuesday, January 12, the Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled to Dallas to play Cristo Rey Fire in their first district game of the season. The Mustangs endured a big lead over Fire throughout the game and ended with a win.

That Friday, January 15, the team hosted Bishop Dunne in their second district game. Senior Blake McGraw, center for the Varsity Mustangs, played heavily off the board totaling 12 rebounds as well as 16 points. Junior Zeke Long was the leading scorer over Dunne with a total of 18 points, including two three-pointers. Junior Jalen Wheeler scored 17 points, including six free throws. The Mustangs finished the game with a 86-41 victory over Bishop Dunne and accomplished their nineteenth win of the season. After the game, the boys celebrated accomplishing the most wins in MCA basketball history and starting district play at 2-0. “We use the word “embrace” and that helps push each of us throughout the game,” said Zeke Long after a week of back-to-back wins.

The Varsity Boys Mustangs will continue the district season on Tuesday, January 26, at home against Dallas Christian Chargers.
