On Tuesday, March 16 the fifth grade class had their science fair. Each year, science teacher Karen Krusing leads her students through a scientific experiment. Students picks an experiment that falls into one of two categories: Life Science or Physical Science. They perform their experiment, record all the data and present it all together on a poster board. Krusing comments on the purpose of the science fair saying, “The main purpose of the science fair is to give students an opportunity to investigate a science topic of their choosing and also teach them the scientific method.” The students projects are then judged and three winners are chosen for each category. The top two projects go to the ACSI competition to compete with students from other schools. Unfortunately, due to Covid there is no ACSI competition this year. This year’s winners are Greyson Williams and Judah Krause in first place, Jackson Youngblood and Derek Reagan in second place and Harper Johnson and Isabella Melton for third place. When asked about his favorite part of science fair, Williams commented saying “My favorite part of science fair was testing and seeing all my friends different ideas.”
