Cross Country Fights for the State Championship

On Monday, November 1, the McKinney Christian Academy cross country teams traveled to Waco, Texas to compete in the TAPPS 5A State Championships. The meet started with the boys 5k race, and right after was the girls 2 mile race. The first runner to come in for the varsity boys was sophomore David Roller, in 18th place with a time of 18:08. The next runners to finish were sophomore Nicholas Catullo in 75th, freshman Jack Sukhia in 87th and senior Tyler Carpenter in 95th. After counting up the results for each team, the MCA boys team scored 363 points and secured 12th place. When asked about the meet, junior Nate McMahon stated “State was a really cool experience.” Right after the boys 5k race, the Lady Mustangs lined up to start their race. The first runner to finish for the Mustangs was junior Belle Kanz in 29th with a time of 14:00. The next runners were junior Alexa Harriman in 37th, junior Leigh Kitzmiller in 70th and freshman Saylor Wood in 89th. The Lady Mustangs scored 310 points, earning 12th place overall. This race completed the cross country season, and the Mustangs are ready to bring home the title next year.
