On Tuesday, January 11, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team played Cristo Rey at home. The Mustangs beat Cristo Rey by 107 points last year and would achieve similar results this year. The Mustangs fought hard and were able to secure the 124-17 win. Junior Bobby McWard finished the game with 47 points. When asked about the team’s performance McWard stated, ”We executed on defense which led to easy transition points and fast breaks. We knew before the game that we wanted to pressure them and I think we did a great job of getting steals. Overall we played great and it was a good win to start off district play.” The varsity boys will play again on Friday, January 14, against Bishop Dunne. The varsity girls basketball team also played Cristo Rey and were able to win 56-3. Junior Abby Thomas scored 18 points for the girls. The varsity girls will play at home on Friday, January 14, against THESA.
