On March 24 and 25 the McKinney Christian Academy Upper School Theatre produced their Spring Musical Beauty and the Beast. This show was the largest that MCA has produced. Fine Arts Director Julie Tucker said that “With the overwhelming support from the entire school and the positive feedback, I would love to do another musical like this. Theatre is such a unique class that brings together students from grades nine through twelve and makes them feel like they are part of a small family.” The theater department as a whole spent months preparing for this show and everyone pitched in. With a record audience of over 500 in attendance, the Student Life Center was full of students, staff and parents ready with anticipation both nights of the show.

Junior Leigh Evan Kitzmiller who was cast as the lead role, Belle, added that “I think that we did really well as a group and all of the feedback we have received has been super positive. I am super proud of all the hard work we put in and I think it all paid off.” Senior Will Penny who was cast as Belle’s father Maurice said that his favorite part was “the nerves right before the show began, the anticipation, and the satisfying feeling of accomplishment after the show when we realized that we pulled it all off making it all worth it.”
