On Tuesday, August 17, the Lady Mustangs Varsity Volleyball competed against Legacy Christian Academy. The Mustangs maintained a lead over the Eagles winning the first 2 sets 25-10 and 25-14 but fell short in the third set. The Eagles won the fourth set tying the game and taking it to a fifth set. When asked about the game Coach Tara Ackmann stated,”Going into the third set after beating them 25-10 25-14 we thought we would be able to secure a 3-0 win, but I think we just lacked focus and started making passing errors and Legacy decided to step up and I feel like we just didn’t play up to our ability the last third and fourth set. We knew that we had a battle to get a win because the past few years we lost at Legacy but beat them in the playoffs, so I think this is a huge victory for us in the preseason.” Junior Kaylin Starling led the Mustangs with 14 kills. Sophomore Mia Gunn contributed to the win with 12 digs and seven service aces. The Lady Mustangs will be traveling to Seguin to compete in the Hill Country Tournament over the weekend.
