Volleyball Starts District With Two Wins

Both JV and Varsity Lady Mustangs Volleyball teams win their first district games.

On Tuesday, September 6, McKinney Christian Academy’s Lady Mustangs JV and Varsity volleyball team opened up district play against Brook Hill. Junior Varsity won against Brook Hill in three sets. Junior Kaylin Starling led the Varsity team’s mashup with 19 kills. Sophomore Bren Williams had 10 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore Kadence Ackmann had nine aces and 20 assists. Starling says,“The game was a great tool to solidify our offensive power. We got to utilize different lineups with various groups of hitters that impacted our play against them.” 

On Thursday, September 8, the Lady Mustangs Volleyball team played again against Dallas Covenant. The Lady Mustangs won 25-19 in the first set, 25-22 in the second set and finished the game with a 25-18 win in the third set. Senior Georgia Haggard had 7 kills along with Sophomore Kadence Ackmann who served 7 aces and delivered 7 kills. Junior Kaylin Starling had 11 kills and Sophomore Mia Gunn led with 14 digs. When asked about the teams performance, Junior Kaylin Starling said “This season is going to be all about bounding our team to build our chemistry, on and off the court. We’re ready to take down our district opponents this year!” Next week the Lady Mustangs travel to Tyler on Tuesday, September 12, for their next game against All Saints.
