The week leading up to the Homecoming Football game and dance, all student dressed up according theme days.  Monday, September 12 was the first day of Homecoming week and the first Upper School dress day theme was prehistoric or grandparents. Tuesday’s theme was 60s or 70s, so everyone brought out their best disco outfits. Wednesday gave everyone a chance to wear their favorite 80s and 90s styles, including band t-shirts and baggy jeans. Thursday concluded the homecoming dress days and let the student body show their future interests by dressing up as their desired profession.

MCA held the annual tailgate on Thursday, September 15. Tailgate is a chance to gather families together and celebrate Homecoming as well as exchange garters and mums, recognize fall sports, watch cheer performances and recognize Lil Stang’s sports teams. The night was full of entertainment including the Varsity Football team performing a cheer dance. Students headed home to get some rest before powderpuff and volleyball the next morning.

On Friday morning, students gathered on the football field in their class t-shirts for the start of powderpuff.  The powderpuff tournament resulted in a win for the senior girls as they conquered each team they went up against. For the fourth year in a row, the class of 2023 has won every powderpuff game. After the powderpuff games had concluded, everyone went to the Student Life Center to cheer on the Upper School boys in a volleyball tournament. Although they had some tough competition, the senior boys won the championship game. This lead to a senior sweep in all homecoming activities.

For Middle School Homecoming Week, each class dressed according to their coordinating color on Monday. On Tuesday, they got to celebrate their favorite holiday, ranging from ugly Christmas sweaters to red, white and blue outfits. Wednesday gave Middle School the chance to support their favorite sports team by wearing a jersey of their choice. Finally, Thursday wrapped up the dress day themes with their favorite throwback outfit. On Friday the Middle School students gathered in the SLC for a post game party from 10am to 12pm, then later joined Upper School in the pep rally, firing up the football team for the game against Atlas in Ron Poe stadium that night.

The Homecoming activities ended on that Saturday with the Upper School students gathering in the SLC for the Homecoming dance.
