On Saturday, September 17, three of McKinney Christian Academy’s jazz band students auditioned for Association Texas Small School Band All Region Jazz Band. Juniors Matthew Meeks, Aiden Ewing and Jackson Iseneker all made the band. Each student prepared three pieces and performed one improvised solo. These students performed these pieces in front of five judges. Music teacher Ken Snow said, “They did outstanding because Aiden received the only spot for his instrument. Matthew Meeks won a spot out of two spots then Jackson got the fifth spot they performed at the top of their ability.” Meeks and Ewing advanced in the next round of competition for a chance to make Texas All-State Jazz Band which is held in San Antonio, Texas in February. The All-Region Jazz Concert will be held November 15, at Legacy Christian Academy.
