On Thursday, October 20, the McKinney Christian Academy Lady Mustangs Volleyball team hosted Prince of Peace Christian School at the Student Life Center. With a previous loss to the Eagles, the Mustangs had to find a way to take down the undefeated district leaders. After going down 16-10 in the first set, the Lady Mustangs rallied together to take the first set 27-25. Dropping the second set, they turned it around, winning the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-16. The Mustangs beat the first place team in the district. Junior Kaylin Starling led the way with 16 kills and six blocks. Sophomore Kadence Ackmann had 12 kills and three aces, senior Georgia Haggard and junior Sky Miller both had 7 kills, and sophomore Mia Gunn led the way with 20 digs. Head Coach Tara Ackmann said, “After all the adversity we have faced the last week, I was very proud of our girls for how hard they played every single point of the match.”

With it being Senior Night, seniors Daniela Morales and Haggard were announced before the game for their commitment to the MCA volleyball program. When asking Morales what emotions she was feeling during her last home game she says, “I was sad but excited to fight for the team knowing it was going to be good game and it was a great way to end my MCA volleyball career with a win at home.”
