FIFA Soccer World Cup Kicks off

USA goes for the goal

On Sunday, November 20 the 2022 FIFA Soccer World Cup started with a match between Qatar and Ecuador. The Word Cup happens every four years and is widely known around the world. This tournament hosts the top 32 national teams to play for the world championship. The United States men’s soccer team had their first game on November 21 facing off against Wales. The 90 minute game ended in a 1-1 tie. USA’s next match happened on November 25 and also ended in a tie against England. Iran and the United States faced off on November 29. The United States needed a win in order to move on making it a high intensity game. In the 38’ minute Christian Pulisic Scored to lead Iran 0-1. The United States held their ground to win the match and move on to the next round and play the Netherlands on December 3. Leo Messi is a well known player around the world and has shown to be the best. Messi has been playing professional soccer since 2004 at the age of 17. He announced in October this would be his last World Cup. The FIFA World Cup last match will be on December 18 to determine the World Champions.
