On February 23rd the Lady Mustangs varsity soccer team faced off in the TAPPS regional playoff game with hopes of going onto the state semifinals with a win. The Lady Mustangs played against Brentwood Christian at John Paul II Reicher in Waco. The girls started off with 3 goals in the first half by senior Preslea Wilson, and 2 by freshman Tatum Barnard. With a 3 goal lead going into halftime the Mustangs would keep on the push with another 3 in the second half by seniors Sarah Krusing and Preslea Wilson and sophomore Havilah Mahadi. With 85 percent possession time and 45 shots on goal, the Mustangs held out a  6-1 win which officially puts them in the state semifinals next Thursday March 2nd in Round Rock against last year’s State runner up and Division III Co-District Champs Dallas Covenant. This is the third time this year the Mustangs are playing them this year after splitting two games with a win and a loss. When asking senior Kate Nordhaus what changes need to be made to secure a win this next round she says “We are going to work on possessing the ball and communicating better, but overall as a team we are super excited and motivated than ever to beat covenant.”
