This mission week, many of McKinney Christian Academy’s Upper School students traveled internationally to Guatemala and Costa Rica. The trips both left on Saturday, February 25, and returned on Friday, March 3.

The Costa Rica trip consisted of a group of 20 freshmen and three senior leaders. They spent the first three days in Manuel Antonio and did mission work at two schools in the city of Quepos. The team served at the Escuela Cristiana El Puente campuses. Freshman Makennah Vann said, “This trip was truly amazing and I am so grateful I was able to go. I will forever be grateful for the experiences this trip brought me.” They then spent the rest of the week in the Mount Arenal area and got to experience more of the country’s culture.

The Guatemala team spent the first day attending church and exploring the city’s markets. The group spent the following three days serving a school in the city of El Zapote. They did crafts, sang songs and played games with the kids. After their time at the school, they built houses for families in need. Later that week, they explored the country by climbing volcanoes and even roasted marshmallows at the top.
