Starting on March 23, the McKinney Christian Academy Upper School Theatre produced their three night Spring Musical, The Wizard of Oz. The theater department has been preparing for the show’s debut for many weeks filled with hard work and dedication. Many Upper School students said that the experience of performing with their peers was a lively and extremely enjoyable experience. Junior Morrissey Smith states “The play was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the year. It was so exciting to be all around all of my friends learning lines and blocking. I think that the play went perfectly and I am so happy that we got to perform for the school.” Another cast member, junior Millennia Vance, said “The Wizard of Oz was such a fun play to do, with all the different and unique looking characters. One of my favorite parts of the production of the play was when the whole cast got to skip school and shop for our characters’ costumes. Another special part of the play was that we used my dog, Kona, as Toto which was so fun to bring to rehearsals.” Upper School Theatre will now be preparing their pieces for TAPPS Competition.
