On Saturday April 29, the MCA Jazz Trio performed at the State Jazz Festival in Tarleton, Texas. These Upper School students brought home the “Best in Class-Outstanding Ensemble” Award.  All three instrumentalists also won the outstanding solo awards. Junior Matthew Meeks talks about a great performance at the festival saying, “Tarleton was super fun and I enjoyed playing music with my friends. I do think it was worthwhile because we got to receive feedback after we finished playing.”  After the performance, the band had a clinic with saxophonist Mark Lara who said, “You sound like professionals.”  The other 2A bands they competed against had full jazz ensembles which consisted a total of 20 members.
