Wheeler and Ackmann Named MCA Athletes of the Year

Junior Noah Wheeler and sophomore Kadence Ackmann have been named the first ever McKinney Christian Academy Male and Female Athletes of the Year. 

Ackmann participated in volleyball, soccer and track during her sophomore campaign. In volleyball, she was selected  1st Team All District and Honorable Mention All State. She recorded 76 service aces, 199 kills, 315 assists and 196 digs during the 2022 season. She was also ranked as the 7th best server in DFW.

In soccer, Ackmann was a defender for the state semi finalist Lady Mustangs.  She garnered 1st Team All District and 1st Team All State honors.  She was also recognized as the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. 

 Ackmann wrapped up her sophomore year running track for the Mustangs where she excelled at the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 relays.  Her 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams earned a 3rd place finish at the TAPPS state track meet.

 Wheeler participated in football, basketball and track during his junior campaign.  On the gridiron, Wheeler earned 1st Team All District Receiver and 1st Team All District Defensive Back  He was also named Honorable Mention All State as a receiver and Academic All State.  He was named the team’s Most Outstanding Player for the 2022 season. On the year, Wheeler put up 1976 All-Purpose Yards, 14 All-Purpose Touchdowns, 41 receptions for 966 yards, 20 rush attempts for 184 yards, 18 kick returns for 688 yards and 6 kick returns for touchdowns, 5 punt returns for 138 yards and 3 PR touchdowns, averaging 198 yards per game, defense, 47 tackles, 2 INT’s, 15 PD’s.

In basketball, Wheeler was a guard for the state semi finalist Mustangs. He was awarded 1st Team All District, 1st Team All State and Academic All State honors. He was also recognized as the team’s Offensive MVP. Wheeler led the district in assists per game. 

Wheeler wrapped up his junior year running track for the Mustangs where he excelled in long jump, 200 meter dash and the 4×400 relay. Noah finished his track season running the 200 meter dash at the TAPPS state track meet.  

Ackmann and Wheeler will also receive a $1000 scholarship from Independent Financial.
