On Thursday September 14, McKinney Christian hosted their annual tailgate after the Middle School football game. Before Tailgate began, homecoming dates traded their mums and garters, and people got a chance to dunk staff members in the dunk tank. Tailgate started off with the national anthem, sung by MCA vocal ensemble, and a prayer led by Senior Tucker Scott. The MCA Upper School and Middle School band played “Shout It Out,” followed by a performance by the percussionists. The Lil’ Stangs Cheer Squad showed off their cheers and dances, followed by routines from the Varsity and Middle School cheer teams. The Upper School Football team then took the field and performed a cheer, while the volleyball team and cross country team performed a dance. Freshman Rydon Lansford, an upper school football player, said, “Being apart of the cheer was really fun, and I would definitely do it again.” The Upper School homecoming court walked onto the football field after the performances, including Freshmen Corey Sizemore and Alexis Guerrero, Sophomores Sadie and Kody Zbranek, Juniors John Clark and Bren Williams, and Seniors Andrew Wu, Grace Krause, Sky Miller, Emma Ashcraft, Drew Denton, Liam Corley, Conner Jarzombek, and Emily Barnhill. The tailgate is a yearly tradition celebrated by families of the whole school.

Hi, I'm Aubrey Hagstrom! I am in 9th grade this year, and I have been at MCA since third grade. After school, I enjoy playing soccer and hanging out with my friends and my little brother. This is my first year in the newspaper staff, and my favorite MCA memory was my 8th grade Spring Semi-Formal. My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 37:23-24
"The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand."
