On Saturday, October 14, the McKinney Christian Academy Middle School cross country team raced in the first-ever Middle School State Championship. The Middle School boys had three medalists including eighth grader Dusty Thibodeaux and sixth graders Tom Goeders and Luke Wilson. The boys finished in first place and the girls finished in third. The girls were led by sixth-grade medalists Makenna Clark and seventh grader Everett Neuner. When asked about how the state meet went, head coach Rhett McKeller said, “I was excited to see this event on the calendar for the 2023 season. In the past, I felt like the season ended too early for our middle school runners and that they needed an exclamation point to end on. This was by far the best meet of the season for them in terms of teamwork and consistency. To bring home a win for the boys’ team and several PRs and medals shows how well they have trained and what they’re capable of going forward.”
The Middle School cross country season is over for the year but will return next fall.
