On Monday, January 22, Paul Coughlin, an international speaker and the founder and president of The Protectors, came to McKinney Christian Academy to talk to the students about bullying. His speech began with his personal story, giving everyone some background information. After talking about bullying and its effects and trends, he allowed the students to apologize publicly to other students or the school. Coughlin then ended his speech with a prayer. After this assembly, Coughlin shared his thoughts on how his message may have impacted the students, saying, “People really found the courage and the humility to go up to another person in front of other people. That’s really big, and that’s really powerful. I encourage the students to remember this day because bullying is like any other rotation: be tempted to do it again. But remember this day and combat the urge.” The impact of Coughlin’s speech is sure to stick with the students for a long time to come.
