A group of MCA Upper School students traveled to Guatemala over missions week to serve and spread the Gospel. The trip was led by Scott Roller, Mr. and Mrs. Crespi, Mr. and Mrs. Cowan, Mr. and Mrs. Chinners. The first day of the trip was spent enjoying the culture of Guatemala. The students attended church and shopped around the markets of Antigua. From Monday to Thursday, the group traveled to a village called El Zapote. The students spent their days holding VBS activities at the Source of Hope school, sharing the Gospel and building two houses in the community. The MCA students set up a fiesta for the school where they had pinatas, served pizza, had ice cream and got to have fun with the Guatemalan students. Senior Fiona Smith stated, “The trip was life changing and seeing the abundance of joy the Guatemalans’ had was truly eye opening, I am so glad I chose to go to Guatemala.” On the final night, the group went to a resort for their last dinner together. The students shared memories from the week and grew stronger bonds with one another.
