During the week of March 2, a group of McKinney Christian Academy freshmen went on a mission trip to Costa Rica. They traveled from Texas to Costa Rica on Saturday. The next day, they went to a church on the beach. After the service, five students and one leader were baptized by Pastor Josh Boling. After this, the group went to the Pastor’s house for lunch and then took a boat ride to El Cocal to play with kids on the beach. On March 4, they went to El Puente Christian School to talk and play with the students. Later that day, the students did a scavenger hunt and swam at the beach. On Tuesday, March 5, the students returned to El Puente Christian School to say goodbye to the kids before traveling to a different part of the country. On March 6, the students went on a zipline in the jungle around the Volcano Arenal area. They then went to their last school of the week, where some girls did a few traditional Latin dances. At the end of the day, the students were surprised with a trip to Baldi Hot Springs, where they got to go on water slides and sit in the hot springs. On Thursday, March 7, the group traveled back to San Jose. After checking in at the hotel, they had their Salsa Fiesta, where they learned traditional dances and everyone had a chance to get to know each other better. On their last day, the students packed and went to the airport to return to Texas. Freshman Avery Gray said, “It was a lot of fun, and I loved hanging out with the kids and getting to see what it’s like to be in another country.”
