On Tuesday, August 13, the McKinney Christian Academy Lady Mustangs’ volleyball team faced off against Ovilla Christian. This game was their home opener and was an important game as Ovilla is a 3x State Champion team. The Mustangs started strong as they won the first set 25-19. Set two was close between the teams as Ovilla barely scratched out the win with a score of 26-24. During sets three and four, the Mustangs and Ovilla split as they each won one. Set five was decided to see who won in a first-to-15 race. Ovilla came up short as the Mustangs won the final set 15-13. Senior Kadence Ackmann led the team in kills with 20 and 29 digs. Senior Mia Gunn also had 29 digs. Overall, this game lasted three hours. After the match, Head Coach Tara Ackmann talks about their first home game, saying, “I thought our home opener went well. I felt like we got to see several different lineup options. We have a wide mix of veterans and younger players, so chemistry is certainly building. I like how we started our season and I look forward to seeing how far we go.” The JV volleyball team also played that night, and they swept Ovilla two sets to zero.
