On Friday, October 18, the McKinney Christian Academy Upper School students played in the Powderpuff football games. The girls played in the game and were coached by the boys in their grade. It began with two games: freshmen vs juniors and sophomores vs seniors. Then, the winners played, and the losers played. The freshmen lost to the juniors and then beat the sophomores. The sophomores lost to both the seniors and the freshmen. The juniors defeated the freshmen and the seniors. The seniors beat the sophomores and lost to the juniors. Junior coach Luke Webb said, “The ladies played very well, and the defense did well.” The high school boys also played volleyball and were coached by some of the girls on the varsity volleyball team. The games were played in the same style as the tournament but resulted in a final match between the seniors and the juniors, ending with a win from the seniors. The volleyball coach, junior Sadie Blake, said, “There were some inconsistencies, and next year will be our year; we had some growth on the team, and I’m proud of the gentlemen.” This tradition has been a part of McKinney Christian Academy’s Homecoming for many years now.
