Starting on Thursday, December 4, the McKinney Christian Academy Mustang’s Varsity men’s basketball team started the James Wood Invitational Tournament. The first game was on Thursday, and the Mustangs took on Gainesville High School. The Mustangs would start off the tournament hot with a big win over Gainesville. This game was controlled by MCA the whole time and would show with the Mustangs winning 83-40. In the second game on Thursday, the Mustangs played Fossil Ridge High School. Once again, the Mustangs controlled this game, but it was closer than the first game, with MCA winning 54-45. Going into Friday, December 6, the Mustangs would taken on Denison High School and still undefeated at this point. The Mustangs would take down Denison by a score of 54-44. On Saturday, December 7, the Mustang head into the final day of the Tournament undefeated and playing for a championship. MCA played Brewer High School in the championship, and it was a great game; the Mustangs would pull away in the end, with MCA winning 51-42. The Mustangs played amazingly, and a few players got awards. Senior Drew Hamilton won the tournament MVP, and senior Sean Agyapong and John Clark were nominated for the tournament team. MCA played great all weekend and remains undefeated on the season.
