Over missions week, a group of freshman from McKinney Christian Academy traveled to Costa Rica for an incredible ministry experience. They traveled from Texas to Costa Rica on Saturday. The next day, they went to a church on the beach. After the service, two freshman students and one student leader were baptized in the ocean by Pastor Josh Boling. After this, the group went to the pastor’s house for lunch and then took a boat ride to El Cocal to host a VBS for the kids there. The following day the group went to El Puente Christian School to hang out and play with the kids. They then went back to El Cocal to do a prayer walk, go door to door and pray for individuals and families. Later that evening they went to the beach to spend a couple hours there. The next morning the MCA group went back to the El Puente Christian School for an assembly where two of our student leaders shared their testimonies. Then they buckled up for a 6 hour drive to Arenal. The next day brought many fun activities. They went ziplining, visited the Fortuna waterfall, and finished the day off at the Hot springs for some fun and dinner. For their last full day they traveled back to San Jose, took a dance class, and finished the night off with dinner and their yearly “fiesta.” When freshman, Petra Westra, was asked her thoughts on the mission trip she said, “I think it was a really good opportunity to minister to the kids at VBS and also share the gospel at times we least expected to like at the hot springs.” When junior, Avery Schall, was asked how the trip went for her she said, “I was blessed with the privilege of being a student leader for this trip and it changed my life! Not only did I get to serve the kids in Costa Rica but I got to disciple the freshman as well which was super special.”
