On Saturday, August 23, the high school and middle school cross country teams competed at the Texoma Invitational Meet at Pecan Grove Park in Sherman. The meet in particular has been a challenging one in the past, but the runners managed to power through, with high school girls receiving second place in the JV girls’ race. Freshman Everett Neuner and senior Dylan Neuner medaled in the race, carrying on their streak this year. Additionally, freshman William Mevius and sophomore Ella Downey won the Ric Flair Award for outstanding character and support for their teammates. When asked about how the meet went, senior Neuner said, “This course was definitely one of our most challenging ones, but I think that our team really powered through.”
In middle school, both seventh grader Rebecca Dominguez and sixth grader Beckett Hodge medaled, despite this being their first time on the challenging course. Along with the medalists, sixth grader Cohen Holley and sixth grader Eden Lansford won the Ric Flair Award for showing perseverance and love during their races.
Their next meet is on Saturday, August 30, at the Battle of the Buff.
