On September 16, the MCA JV volleyball team played Prince of Peace. In the first set, the Lady Mustangs defeated the Eagles 25-8. In the second set, they won with a whopping score of 25-15. Junior Bailey Gerardis led in aces, which contributed to their victory. In the previous practice, the Lady Mustangs did vigorous drills, resulting in a better game. Sophomore Cana Heckadon spoke about the game. She said, “Our hard work in practice paid off in the game. We demonstrated a great work ethic and discipline throughout our practices and games. Being on the court, you can feel the energy coursing through our veins. I am so over the moon to be a participant in the volleyball program. I genuinely look forward to every moment with my teammates on and off the court.”
On September 16, the varsity volleyball team played and defeated Prince of Peace. In the first set, the Eagles won with a score of 25- 23. In the second set, the Mustangs had a comeback and won 25-23. Prince of Peace then won the third set 25-11. The Lady Mustangs won the last two sets 25-22 and 15-12. Junior Tristyn Vineyard and Sophomore Ellie Mullins led the game, both having 21 digs. Senior Sadie Blake scored 11 kills, while sophomore Brittany Bartoo scored 15 kills. Freshman Sophia Gustovich received four aces against Prince of Peace. Sophomore Presley Dreffs spoke about the game. She said, “We played with lots of perseverance, even when we were losing. We had to build on our energy. During the game, we were very hype, cheering on and off the court with every point. We made sure to put our full effort into every ball. I can feel from the top of my head to the tips of my toes that our team is going in the right direction.”
