This weekend, on Friday, September 19, the Upper School cross country team competed in the Castleberry Clash in Fort Worth. Although there were no medalists this time, freshman Camden Holley received first place on the men’s team, and senior Dylan Neuner received first place on the ladies’ team. Although no one may have medaled, almost all of the athletes set personal records for the season. Additionally, sophomore Quinn Schall and freshman Ryla Gilmore were awarded the Ric Flair Award for surprising placement in the race and strong endurance. The runners agreed that this was one of their best races, despite the heavy competition, and afterward, the team went to Chili’s to celebrate. When asked about how he felt during the race, freshman Mason McAnally said, “I felt good, but the race was hard. I think it went well, and I opened up my stride a lot.”
The team’s next meet is on Thursday, September 25, in Blue Ridge.
