On Monday, September 29, the McKinney Christian Academy Band hosted a concert for family members and friends to attend. Seventh to 12th-grade students participated in the musical performances. To open the event, the seventh and eighth-grade band delivered a march called “Langham Creek.” Afterwards, upper school band members joined the middle school band to play “Defender of Time.” The upper school band then performed a rendition of “Amazing Grace.” Continuing their momentum, they also played “Chorale from Jupiter” before rejoining the middle school band to play some standard tunes. The bands played “Sweet Caroline,” “Apache,” “Drum Cadence” and “Land of 1000 Dances.” To conclude the evening, the bands closed with the MCA fight song. When Savannah Goodwin, a member of the upper school band, was asked about her thoughts on their performances, she said, “Even though this was our first band concert, everyone played well. This will give us a good foundation to push off of and strive to be even better.” Mr. Flint, the band director, was also asked about his thoughts on how his bands performed and said, “This was a great experience for these young musicians! We will continue to praise the Lord in the way of music, teamwork, and camaraderie here at MCA.”
