On September 30, the McKinney Christian JV volleyball team played Bishop Gorman Catholic School. In the first set, the Mustangs beat Bishop 25-9. The Mustangs worked hard and maintained great energy throughout the entire game. In the second set, the Mustangs beat Bishop 25-15. The JV struggled on serves, but they focused on their other mechanics and came out on top. Sophomore Cana Heckadon spoke on the Mustangs game and said, “Even though I couldn’t be out there with them tonight, I’m so proud of my girls for pulling through and beating Bishop Gorman. Watching them fight for every point reminded me why this team is so special. They played with heart, and I felt every win right from the bench.”
The varsity team also played Bishop Gorman. In the first set, the Mustangs won 25-11. Sophomore Presley Dreffs led the set with her aces. In the second set, the Mustangs won 25-9. The third set proved to be the deciding factor in the Mustangs’ win. They won the third set 25-10. The leading scorers of the match were Senior Sadie Blake with 13 kills, and Sophomore Ellie Mullins had seven aces. Dreffs spoke about the game. She said, “Winning tonight felt amazing. We trusted each other, stayed locked in, and played our hearts out. We all kept our energy up the whole game, on and off the court. ”
