On Saturday, October 4, Mr. Clark took 12 students to the Bonham State Veterans’ home. These veterans talked about their lives, families, military history, and lives after service. These veterans were extremely excited to see these kids come and visit, as some go months and sometimes years without having any visitors. These students talked all about their lives while talking to our heroes of America. They were cherished by the veteran’s home and the veteran’s home said they felt so blessed having them. The staff of the veteran’s home even called Mr. Clark to let him know how happy they were that a few high school students would take their Saturday morning to go and talk to a bunch of veterans just to lift their spirits. Some veterans even cried seeing the kids leave, as they were so grateful of them. When Sophomore, Cana Heckadon, was asked how it went she said, “It was a very eye-opening experience and I loved the opportunity to make people’s day, week, month, or even year. Some people here never get visitors, and I loved being a part of being one.”
