This weekend, on Saturday, October 18, both the Middle School and Upper School cross country teams competed in their district meet. The meet was hosted on home turf at MCA, which certainly gave the teams an advantage, especially the Middle School teams. The Middle School boys managed to get third place overall, with sixth grader Beckett Hodge getting second place. The other boys’ team medalists were seventh grader Ethan Hensley, sixth grader John Maier, and sixth grader Cohen Holley. However, despite the boys’ accomplishments, the girls truly had their last “hoorah” at this meet, getting first place overall. On the girls’ team, seventh grader Rebecca Dominguez got first place in the race, and eighth grader Makenna Clark, seventh grader Layton Tennison, seventh grader Penny Lawson, sixth grader Sydney Jenlink, sixth grader Eden Lansford, and sixth grader Brooklynn Woodward all medaled. When asked about how he did during the race, sixth grader Noah Halloran said, “The race went great, the course was fine, and it was fun.”
In Upper School, the boys’ team didn’t secure any medals, but their top three runners were sophomore Cooper Huggins, freshman Camden Holley, and freshman William Mevius. The girls’ team did secure medals, though, with senior, Dylan Neuner, and junior, Carys Mejan, coming into the finish line neck-and-neck with each other.
Overall, the meet went well for all of the teams. The Middle School ended their season with a bang at this meet, and the Upper School’s final race is their state meet next Saturday, October 25.
