On Tuesday, December 9th, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity cheer team traveled to Waco, Texas, to compete in the annual TAPPS state competition. The team took third place out of 12 teams. Sophomore, Allison Driskell, and Junior, Kaylee Mattoon, won first-team all-state. Sophomore, Harper Miazga, received 2nd-team all-state honors. Junior, Iris Jordon, received all-state honorable mention. Freshmen, Madison Diedrick and Grey Royal, competed in a jump competition, and both made it to the finals. Diedrick ended up winning first overall for the best jumps. When asked about how they competed, Freshman, Grey Royal, said, “I think we did our absolute best, and I really enjoyed competing and showing off what we can do. When we stepped off the mat after going, it felt like all the work we had put in for TAPPS had finally paid off.”
