The Middle School STEM students went down to Big Bend National Park on their yearly STEM trip. The group of students and teachers stayed in the park for four nights and five days. The STEM group met at McKinney Christian Academy at 5:45 A.M. on Sunday morning, and returned on Thursday at around 5:30. Everyone hiked, made their own food, camped out in tents, swam, and even stargazed. When asked about an unforgettable memory, eighth grader, Stella Bennett, said, “We had just gotten in our tents and gotten comfy, when out of no where, we heard a growl and then a hiss. Then, Mrs. Boese said, ‘Uh oh’ and all of us started to freak out. Nobody slept that night. In the morning she was on her way to the bathroom and she found poop on the road, which she brought back to camp. Then Mrs. Mullins and her disected it, just to figure out it was a mountain lion!”
